The Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Centre (KSREC), established in 1995 under the National Natural Resources Management System (NNRMS), functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Planning and Economic Affairs, Government of Kerala, as per G.O. (MS) No.22/95/Planning dated 29/08/1995. KSREC is mandated with promoting the use of Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and related geospatial technologies for sustainable development and scientific decision-making in the State. KSREC actively engages in a wide range of activities including research, training, consultancy, awareness programs, and application development in diverse fields. Major focus areas include land and water resource management, environmental monitoring, urban and regional planning, agriculture, forestry, disaster management, and infrastructure development. As the State’s nodal agency for Remote Sensing and GIS, KSREC provides technical support, spatial database creation, thematic mapping, and scientific analysis to Government Departments, Local Self Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, and Research & Academic Institutions. In addition to project-based services, KSREC conducts capacity-building programs and awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing the understanding and adoption of geospatial technologies among government officials, students, researchers, and professionals.
KSREC provides a platform for professionals and researchers to contribute to projects in Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Studies, and Spatial Data Analytics — working toward Kerala’s sustainable development goals.
At KSREC, you’ll collaborate with experts, government departments, and research organizations. We value innovation, inclusivity, and scientific excellence, providing an environment where your skills can make a tangible impact on society.
